About Us
Keeshia Cromwell, MAECS, MACP, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
Hello and welcome! I’m glad you’re here.
I appreciate and respect wanting to know yourself better. Sometimes there’s things we think and do on “autopilot” and wonder why. If you’re determined to get to know yourself on a deeper level, you’re in the right place.
At Empower and Align Psychotherapy, my mission is to help you discover your true self and empower you to live authentically.

Keeshia Cromwell, MAECS, MACP, RP
Founder & Clinical Director
I am passionate about creating a safe and welcoming space where we can explore your journey at your pace. I don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy. I want to truly get to know you so that together we can figure out what you need and what works best.
Our journey together will help you make connections between your experiences, relationships, roles, habits, thoughts, patterns, and behaviours. Through this process, you’ll be empowered to align with your preferred self, embracing all parts of who you are, even the ones you’ve hidden away to survive. By the end of our sessions, I aim for you to feel encouraged, validated, hopeful, and empowered.
My goal is to help you reach yours. If you’re ready to embark on an eye-opening, challenging, and powerful therapeutic transformation, I am here to support you every step of the way!
FAQs
In your first session, we will go over the intake and consent form and begin to explore what brought you to therapy, your short- and long-term goals for therapy, and some context about you (i.e., your family history and background, your current living and work situation, any significant relationships or friendships, religious or spiritual beliefs, etc.). The first few sessions might feel like an “interview”. This helps your therapist understand and get to know you better so they can best support you.
This is completely up to you! There is no “right” way to attend therapy, but in general, it’s common to start with more frequent sessions (e.g., weekly or bi-weekly) that become less and less as you reach your goals and feel more empowered to use what you’ve learned in therapy. We will always check in with each other about your progress and needs.
We don’t believe in a “one size fits all” approach, so it depends on your goals and needs. However, we tend to lean towards Person-Centered, Narrative Therapy, Dialogic Therapy, Attachment Based, Mindfulness-based, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Socratic Questioning, Compassion Focused, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Somatic.
We do not offer direct billing, but you will receive a detailed receipt after each session via e-mail which you can present to your insurance provider. It’s best to check with your provider beforehand if our services are covered.
Of course you can! It’s common to not know exactly what you need from therapy, but that is the wonderful nature of self-discovery and the therapeutic journey. Just by you sharing and hearing your therapist’s nonjudgmental and unbiased perspective, you might see and understand things you never did before… and this will help you understand where to go next!

Therapy frequency depends on your specific needs and goals. Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions to build momentum and consistency. Over time, we may adjust the frequency as you make progress or as your needs evolve.
While therapy can be highly effective when all parties are involved, individual therapy can still be beneficial if your partner or family member is hesitant. We can work on your personal growth, understanding relationship dynamics, and developing strategies for improving communication and trust.
You don’t have to know exactly what's troubling you to benefit from therapy. Many people seek therapy because they feel stuck, lost, or overwhelmed but can’t pinpoint why. Through our sessions, we’ll explore your feelings, experiences, and thoughts to better understand the root causes and help you find clarity.
